Lashunn began her FDNY career in 1993 at Station 18 in Harlem, where she learned not only how to save lives but also how to treat people with empathy, kindness, and respect. Her remarkable journey included caring for iconic figures like Michael Jackson during a concert rehearsal and serving on the frontlines during 9/11, spending eight months recovering remains at the World Trade Center site to help families find closure.
After 28 years of dedicated service as an EMT and dispatcher, Lashunn retired but continued her mission of giving back. She founded Feed the 1st Responders, a nonprofit that provided meals to essential workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. For over 20 years, she has also organized PARTY WITH A PURPOSE events, where proceeds support causes such as college scholarships, fire victims, and the homeless.
Her life motto is simple but profound: “TO BE BLESSED, YOU MUST 1ST BE A BLESSING!”
